iPlum Features
Once you’ve taken care of all the main business matters, including figuring out how to pay yourself, it’s time to get a virtual phone number. iPlum is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) platform that has rolled out a set of innovative features that make it stand out from the competition.
That said, there are also well-implemented elements here that we can see on other similar platforms.
API Integration
The iPlum app allows you to connect to third-party systems like Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) via the iPlum Application Programming Interface (API). It provides better visibility and compliance within a company.
Advanced Password Policy
iPlum ensures security by employing an advanced password policy. For instance, you can set up two-factor authentication (2FA) and use complex passwords to keep your account secure.
Auto-Text Reply
As a small business owner, you’re probably constantly running around, having to take care of many tasks to keep your business afloat. Thus, keeping in touch with clients and business partners may be difficult. The auto-text reply feature allows you to maintain a good relationship with them by setting up an automated response to any missed calls or text messages.
Auto-Attendant (IVR)
iPlum supports the auto-attendant feature that allows you to forward calls made to your primary iPlum number to various users inside your firm by creating a phone tree. The call forwarding is facilitated by a virtual assistant that guides the callers.
Business Hours
The app allows you to set up your business calls to go through only during business hours. When you receive a call outside of those hours, the call will be directed straight to voicemail.
Business Phonebook CRM
There is a designated business phonebook in the app. It enables you to keep your business and personal contacts separate.
Call Recording
You may also record your business calls, which most iPlum reviews praise as a highly-appreciated feature. Before beginning to record your call, you have the option of playing a free consent message for your callers.
Dual Calling
Due to the dual calling option, you don’t have to rely on VoIP internet data. It will still show your iPlum number as the Caller ID, but you will have the option to switch to your default data network, including Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G, and LTE.
Financial and Legal Compliance
With iPlum, you can get financial and legal compliance for your iPlum mobile line. You’ll need to pay an additional $9.99 for this add-on.
HIPAA and HITECH
iPlum offers HITECH and HIPPA compliance, too. Businesses in the healthcare industry need to protect customer data in accordance with applicable privacy and security regulations. Clients can use the iPlum app to send encrypted messages.
Online Fax
You can send faxes through an online portal and share them with your team members. iPlum guarantees that the information you share will be kept secure.
Out-of-the-Office Message
The app lets you set up an out-of-the-office greeting. That way, your clients will be informed when you’re on vacation or simply unavailable.
Porting Number
You may transfer your existing number to iPlum. Therefore, you don’t have to inform your clients about any change of number.
Report Center
The Report Center enables you to keep track of the number of calls you make, your expenses, and so on. You can access detailed reports that are easy to understand. If you find those reports don’t offer all the information you need, we have some suggestions for software designed specifically for call tracking.
Secure Texting
You may use secure, encrypted channels for sending text messages. Moreover, your clients can use the iPlum app for free to communicate with you via SMS.
Team Account
The iPlum platform contains the team account feature that enables you to organize and manage your team. It allows for centralized billing and allows you to restrict team member permissions.
Voicemail Transcriptions
Voicemail transcriptions are another popular feature. Along with your audio file, you’ll also receive your voicemail in text form.
Ease of Use
There is an iPlum app for both Android and iOS systems. The app has a simple, user-friendly interface that the customers are very fond of, as evidenced by rave reviews and excellent ratings on Google Play and Apple’s App Store.
More than 7,400 reviews on Google’s virtual marketplace average gave it an astonishing 4.7 out of 5, while over 1,400 iOS users rated it with 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Our iPlum app review found it to be one of the most accessible apps on the market. It has all the necessary features to handle business communications and personal calls, including voicemail, call recording, and secure texting.
Once you download the app, you’ll need to create an iPlum account. The sign-up process is quite simple, as very little information is required to complete it.
First, you need to enter your phone number and verify it. Then, you’ll be asked to provide your name and email address. After you create a password and go through several steps that include setting up the virtual phone number and payment, you’ll be good to go.
PricingUnfortunately, there is no iPlum free trial, but the pricing plans aren’t too costly compared to other platforms. You may get your virtual US phone number with iPlum for $8.99 per month for one user if you decide to pay annually. If you only want a monthly subscription that you can cancel more easily, you’ll need to cash out $11.99 per month. This plan includes unlimited credits. A more affordable plan costs $5.99 but will only get you 200 credits per month. The prices are a little higher for a toll-free virtual number. For unlimited credits, it costs $14.99 a month if you pay annually. In case you don’t want to commit to a yearly subscription, you may choose to pay on a monthly basis, in which case the price becomes $19.99 per month. The more affordable plan is $9.99 for 200 credits per month. However, you should know that these iPlum plans don’t include all the features we mentioned earlier. For instance, if you want voicemail transcription, you’ll have to pay an additional $4.99 per month. This service also includes a storage capacity of 100 voicemails in addition to the 15 you get when you subscribe to a plan. If this doesn’t strike your fancy, you may use external transcription services that use AI-powered software or have your employees transcribe speech into text. |
Customer Support
You may contact iPlum customer service 24/7 by opening a web ticket. If you do not have in-house technical staff, iPlum can provide you access to iPlum specialists by setting up a live call which costs $25 for a 30-minute Zoom consultation. Thankfully, an extensive FAQ page on the iPlum website may help you find the answers to your questions without having to make the call.
Company Reputation
The iPlum ratings on Better Business Bureau (BBB) and TrustPilot are rather impressive. On BBB, it carries a rating of 4.56 out of 5, albeit based on only nine reviews. More customers reviewed iPlum on TrustPilot, giving it four out of five stars across more than 80 reviews.
Many customers are satisfied with iPlum’s customer support agents. Most users noted that the iPlum team was extremely well-informed and always willing to help.
iPlum Alternatives
iPlum is a feature-rich app that is bound to satisfy the needs of most users. However, it is certainly not the only company offering a VoIP platform. Let’s see how it stacks up to other similar apps when considering the price-to-value ratio.
iPlum vs. Google Voice
Although Google Voice offers a free plan, we can’t say it wins in terms of pricing. That’s because, with the free plan, you get only the most basic features, which include calling, texting, and voicemail. When it comes to paid plans, there are three options.
The most affordable one is the Starter Plan, which costs $10 a month and includes features like voicemail transcription, unlimited texting in the US, and call forwarding. The Standard Plan costs $20 per month and offers additional features, such as eDiscovery for calls, voicemail and text messaging records, and ad-hoc user call recording.
Lastly, the Premier Plan features advanced reporting and adds unlimited international locations, but you’ll need to pay $30 each month.
Ultimately, if you need more than the features Google Voice’s basic free plan offers, iPlum may be a more affordable option, since its pricing starts at $5.99. Be sure to check each platform’s features and calculate all the costs before making your decision.
iPlum vs. Sideline
Sideline is similar to iPlum regarding pricing, although a bit more affordable. Sideline’s Standard Plan costs $9.99 should you decide to pay monthly, which is comparable to iPlum’s $11.99 plan. If you choose to pay on a six-month or yearly basis, it’ll cost you $8.33 per month.
Apart from basic calling, texting, and voicemail functionalities, this Sideline plan offers you a range of handy features. These include team numbers, 24/7 customer support, auto-reply, and voicemail transcription.
You also get the web messaging option that allows you to send texts using a desktop computer, a feature that iPlum doesn’t have. All in all, both companies offer feature-rich platforms, so it comes down to what features you need, as the price difference is almost a non-issue.
Final Verdict
In conclusion, iPlum offers a range of useful features that can help you keep your personal and business life separate. The app has a user-friendly interface and is very affordable, especially if you commit to a yearly subscription.
The only downsides are the lack of a live chat and the fact that calls to customer service and some additional features need to be paid for separately. Nevertheless, the FAQ page is very informative, and the iPlum customer support agents are experts in their field, so you won’t likely need more than one call or email to sort out any potential problems.
