Free vs. Paid Plans

Canva Free

We tend to stay clear of free plans, but Canva offers a lot of the basic features needed for a decent design with its free version. That said, you won’t have access to some of the most essential Canva design tools for professional editing. The free plan includes more than 250,000 templates and over 100 free design types such as social media posts, presentations, letters, flyers, infographics, and much more.

The Free plan limits your cloud storage space to only 5GB of data that can be saved in two folders. But on the plus side, you don’t have to pay a dime for hundreds of thousands of free photos and graphics.

On top of that, you’ll be able to design on the move with the iOS and Android Canva app, review your virtual sketch and share it with your team or friends through a design link. Once you finish your project, you’ll be able to export it as PDF, JPG, and PNG, or as animated GIFs and MP4 videos.

Canva Enterprise

Canva didn’t forget its business users, as they are the ones in need of captivating landing page builders and other tools used to attract and generate new leads. Our Canva review found the Enterprise plan helpful in managing your brand and scaling your content for a reasonable price. This package aims to empower your team to establish your brand’s visual identity by creating enticing logos across multiple Brand Kits.

With unlimited cloud storage space and folders that you can use to arrange your designs, Canva puts you and your team in charge of the content you’re creating. You can share it with team members, control access and editing options, and make use of built-in workflows to get approval on your design. The price ranges from $750.00 for 25 people to $1,500 for 50 people. You’ll have to contact the sales team for more details.

Other Plans

One of the benefits of Canva is that it tailors to the needs of both nonprofits and educational institutions. Canva Pro is free for all registered NGOs. Also, the company developed a unique Canva for Education package that lets K12 teachers and their students create and share engaging assignments, and come up with presentations and lessons. All this is free of charge.

Most Prominent Features

If you’ve been using online editing tools such as PicMonkey that offer fun and easy but limited features, you’ll be amazed by the top-notch resources available with Canva, especially if you opt for the Pro subscription

Photo Editor

When you review the Canva design service tools, the all-in-one editor is sure to stand out. This tool enables you to apply numerous effects to enhance your photos, starting with the basics: flip and crop tool, filters, adjusting brightness, contrast, colors, saturation, tint, blur, etc.

There are options to add extras such as frames and thousands of free stickers and graphics to further personalize your design. Finally, advanced image editing options include adding fonts into text, a background remover, autofocus, and Smartmockups.

Templates Library

Clients who have edited photos already or are satisfied with crude images might need a template to fit their pictures in and create designs. Those who, for example, need Canva for business cards can review its vast library of engaging templates for different purposes. You can choose between thousands of pre-designed posters, logos, presentations, videos, Zoom virtual backgrounds, etc. You can even create engaging video content and publish it right away. Filtering through templates can be done by design type, color, language, and other elements.

Social Media Publisher

All designs you create using Canva’s filters and editing tools can be easily and directly published on social networks, including Facebook pages, Facebook groups, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn profiles, LinkedIn pages, Slack, and Tumblr. Another recently added feature by Canva is the ability to schedule your posts on social media.

We’re closing off our Canva review with the widely praised Teams feature that enables you to share your existing design, make changes, or create new projects together with your team members in real-time. You can easily invite your colleagues, friends, or family to Canva and collaborate on any design. You can set control options and assign administrator and member roles to each one of the team members.

Final Thoughts

Among a myriad of online graphic design tools, Canva stands out thanks to its many features. The software is easy to use and provides collaborative options for sharing designs and ideas. The Canva interface is intuitive, and the vast library of templates and stock photos is impressive. In short, Canva is an excellent choice for any designer, both amateur and professional.

What are the disadvantages of Canva?

Canva templates tend to have similar layouts and designs. This becomes increasingly apparent when you sift through the exhaustive list of Canva photos and templates. Another one of the Canva disadvantages relates to its editing tools that lack some of the top-notch functions available with programs like Photoshop and Lightroom.

Is Canva Pro any good?

Even though the free plan consists of decent features for making simple designs, we recommend signing up for a Pro plan. For an affordable price of $12.99 per month, you’ll get everything from the free plan, plus more than 100 million premium stock photos, videos, audio, and graphics, as well as 100 Brand Kits and 100GB of cloud storage.

Is Canva safe to buy from?

During our Canva review, we were reassured that security is the company’s top priority. The designs and all your content is secured with TLS/SSL and AES256 encryption. Users and enterprises can secure their accounts with SSO and MFA options that Canva provides.
